May 20, Travel to Peak District by Train

He Said:

We spent half a day and 3 different trains and  a car service to get to our destination: Hartington, in the Peak District.  The Peak District was England's first national park.  The countryside is very different from Norfolk, it reminds me of the Yorkshire Dales.  Tomorrow we start our first hilly walk of the trip.

She Said:

A Train Day.
Relaxing, but kind of boring.

Arrived Hartington, in the Peak District and our home for the next 5 days – The Bank House B+B.  This is a true small country village B+B.  4 (small) rooms.  “Cozy”.

We ate dinner at the Devonshire Arms, one of the 2 pubs in the village.  Excellent in every way.
And, again, we are fat and happy back in our room.

Tomorrow – 8.5 miles of hilly hiking.
